Biography
Lester L. Stoffel was head librarian (now executive director) of the Oak Park Public Library from 1955-1966. He oversaw the completion of the 1964 main library building, which replaced the former Scoville Institute building. Stoffel was an early supporter of inter-library cooperation and shared library resources such as the Illinois Suburban Library System. He also sought the first comptuerized card catalog for the library.
