Gertrude Fox Hoagland was a writer who worked under the Works Progress Administration. In 1934 she wrote an article in Oak Leaves about the founding and early history of the Scoville Institute and the Oak Park Public Library. In 1937 she published one of the earliest histories of Oak Park. The history of the village was published under the WPA’s Historical Survey.
